Case Study One
adapted from Learning from Experience, "Developing Portraits of Practice"

At this point in the case study, you would have decided whether to engage the entire team in reflection or leave it up to either Martha or yourself to state a vision for eportfolios. To make this decision, take one step back.

Inviting the group to share their experiences again engages them in the process. Once you have engaged them and you have given them some time for reflection, you may then ask the group:

  • to provide you with a preliminary plan outlining the special contribution this individual will make to the project based on his/her expertise.
The plan should include
  • strategies for piloting eportfolios,
  • methods for sharing best practices and lessons learned,
  • and anticipated roadblocks.
The project managers surveyed so far would

  • ask each member's experiences: 16
  • describe their own experiences: 6
  • ask Martha for her experiences: 5
